Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information PLOT (theplot.land) collects, why, and what happens to it. The short version: we collect as little as possible, we don’t sell it, and we don’t track you around the internet.

1. What we collect

• The name and optional link you submit for your deed. These are intended to be public — they appear on the registry and your deed page once approved.
• Your email address, collected at checkout, used to send your receipt and confirmation and to contact you about your claim if needed.
• Payment information, which is entered into and handled by Stripe, our payment processor. We never receive or store your full card number.

We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, or analytics that profile you across sites. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of majority in their jurisdiction.

2. Why we collect it

To record and display your plot, deliver your deed and receipt, review submitted content, respond to you, and keep the registry accurate and secure. That’s it.

3. Who it’s shared with

We use a small number of service providers to run PLOT, and share only what each needs to do its job:

• Stripe — processes payments. Your card details go to Stripe, not us. See Stripe’s privacy policy for how they handle payment data.
• Vercel — hosts the website.
• Neon — hosts the database where registry records are stored.
• An email provider — if used, to send your receipt/confirmation.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. We may disclose information if required by law.

4. What’s public vs. private

The name and link on your deed are public by design. Your email address is private and is not shown on the registry or your deed.

5. How long we keep it

Because plots are permanent, registry records (including the public label and link) are retained for as long as the registry exists. We keep your email and transaction record for as long as needed to support your claim and to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

6. Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to legal limits (for example, we may need to retain certain transaction records). To make a request, email hello@theplot.land. Note that removing the public label from a permanent plot may mean voiding the plot.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Payment security is handled by Stripe.

8. Changes

We may update this policy; the “last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
